Michael Worthington MBA, B.Sc (Agric), MAICD, PMA A-NZ Affiliate CEO

Michael Worthington was named executive manager of the PMA A-NZ affiliate in October of 2009. Worthington, a well-known local industry leader who served on the PMA Australia-New Zealand Council for three years, had been closely involved with PMA in getting the affiliate established. Michael Worthington has 30 years senior management experience in large scale agribusiness with operational experience in a broad range of enterprises (beef, sheep, grains, cotton and horticulture), particularly in production, processing, supply chain logistics, sales & marketing (Australia, Asian, UK and US markets). In September, 2008, established his own business, which offers tailored advisory services for companies and institutional investors involved in, or wanting to invest in, farmland and agribusiness in Australia, New Zealand and South America, particularly in the dairy, horticulture, grain and beef sectors.

As Executive Manager for PMA Australia-New Zealand, Worthington’s responsibilities include providing the full range of administrative functions for the new affiliate, including supplying executive services to the new board of directors and associated task forces, undertaking local member relations, sourcing and delivering relevant information for the local trans-Tasman industry, managing the annual Fresh Connections conference and handling local media relations. Worthington also works closely with PMA’s U.S. headquarters staff to help build and strengthen the two-way partnership.
