Navigating Government Agencies

Pagina en Espanol

As part of our daily work, PMA's Government Relations team maintains a number of strong working relationships with many U.S. government regulatory agencies. We frequently offer comments to these agencies and share our expertise on specific issues as needed. We also help our members connect with these agencies when they have questions about regulatory issues. To that end, we have compiled the overviews below to give our members easy access to finding the information they need.

  • United States Department of Agriculture: includes fair trading rules (PACA), pricing reports (Market News), fruit and vegetable food safety audit services, plant health rules (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service), and U.S. export assistance and market development (Foreign Agricultural Service).
  • United States Food and Drug Administration: includes links to FDA food safety guidance for fresh fruits and vegetables as well as FDA activities on imported food, as well as information about the Food Safety Modernization Act.
  • United States Customs and Border Protection: includes information about import and export requirements, ports of entry, and Customs' agriculture programs.
