Fresh Connections 2011

This year’s Fresh Connections started with an overview of the many benefits PMA has to offer.  Not only did the event provide a means of bringing the supply chain together through its networking component, it also allowed both potential and existing members an opportunity to learn best practices and education from experts in the industry.  Participants were introduced to 3 members of the produce industry and received information on Fruit and Vegetable Market Trends in Central America.  Roberto Castaneda of Planesa, Guatemala, Rodrigo Sanchez of Auto Mercados, Costa Rica and Adolfo Galvez of Supermercados Riba Smith, Panema, provided insight on the purchasing drivers for specific consumer segments in the following regions: Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama. In addition, participants received additional information on economic and industry trends that are playing a major role with delivering value and quality to consumers.  Overall, attendees were able to gain insight on how growers and buyers can work together to improve relationships throughout the supply chain.
